    Overview

    Truck drivers haul different types of trailers in order to make deliveries and transport materials from one place to another. Aside from driving trucks, there is more to this position as truck drivers are expected to manage other duties related to this position. This may include loading and unloading trucks, performing inspections and preventative maintenance and keeping the exterior and interior of their vehicles clean and tidy.

    Responsibilities

    • Transport goods and materials, sometimes over intercity routes or spanning several states
    • Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
    • Arrive on time at the scheduled pick-up and drop-off locations 
    • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations as well as with company policies and procedures
    • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
    • Report defects, accidents, or violations to your supervisor 
    • Completing and turning in the required paperwork for each job on time 
    • Report any comments or customer requests to your supervisor 
    • Maintain a professional appearance at all times, including 
    • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations 

    Requirements

    • At least 21 years old (DOT requirement)
    • Minimum 5 years experience as a truck driver 
    • Must have a valid Louisiana CDL (Commercial Driver's License)
    • Clean driving record
    • Ability to travel long hours and travel regularly 
    • Willing to submit background/drug checks 
    • Previous employers and references will be checked and must be verifiable 
    • High school diploma
